Titanic Spa, Britain’s first eco-spa
Titanic Spa, in Huddersfield, Yorkshire, is Britain’s first Eco-Spa. This former mill overlooking the Pennines has been transformed into a lavish spa that won’t increase your carbon footprint.
The spa includes a 100m-deep water bore hole which was the original water source for the mill and today provides water for drinking, the showers and the swimming pool – which is salt water regulated and chlorine-free.
Titanic’s electricity is supplied by solar powered roof tiles, and heat is produced by a biomass generator that burns chippings from industrial waste. The building has been well insulated and CO2 management levels are displayed live on a board in the apartments’ reception area showing the carbon savings for the day and the production of electricity through the roof tiles.
There are recycle bins on site; glass, card, paper and plastic are re-used. Most packaging is recycled on site too. Cone drinking cups are from recycled material. And on top of all that, Titanic offers fantastic luxury spa treatments for men and women.
Titanic uses products by Decléor and Elemis which are used in the treatments and day packages on the spa’s extensive menu. Treatments include alternative therapy; body and facial treatments; hair studio; hamman massage treatments; hydrotherapy; men’s massage, facials and grooming; the mud chamber and a health and fitness club.
And if you want a longer spa break, Titanic has 11 deluxe spa apartments, each with modern appliances, private balconies and panoramic windows for a breathtaking view of the countryside.
So for some guilt-free pampering in Britain, head to the Pennines and treat yourself in Titanic Spa (www.titanicspa.com/Templates/Pages/Home.aspx).
